For over 35 years PULS has lived for electrical engineering. The development and production of DIN rail power supplies are what we do best. We constantly learn from the challenges of the past and celebrate the technological advances of tomorrow. We love our work and want to give you an insight into our fascinating company history. 1980 - 1996
PULS GmbH was founded by Bernhard Erdl, a pioneer in the development of switched-mode ("pulsed") power supplies.
Bernhard Erdl introduces the first 19-inch switched-mode power supply unit. Early on, he recognised the great potential of SMPS (Switch Mode Power Supply) technology.
Sale of first customised power supplies to Robert Bosch Industrial Controls. PULS generates an annual turnover of a million euros for the first time and moves into premises in a large building complex in the east of Munich.
Breakthrough regarding the efficiency, which is one of the most important marks of quality in the field of switched-mode power supply technology.
PULS takes up series production of a high-frequency interference-free 4,000 W power supply unit. This endeavour had previously been considered to be technically impossible.
PULS starts designing products based on Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and succeeds in further reducing the power supply units' size.
A dedicated development department is established in Lobenstein in Eastern Germany.
A new manufacturing facility is put into operation in Munich, thus marking the beginning of serial production using Surface Mount Technology.
Significantly smaller and more efficient products are introduced to the market in 1996, further cementing PULS' role as technological market leader.
1997 - 2006
SilverLine product family is introduced to the market. Subsidiaries are founded in Switzerland and in Great Britain.
A second production site is established in the Czech Republic. This facility specialises in large-scale production series. US distribution begins with the brand labels Partner Sola and Lambda, today known as TDK-Lambda.
New PULS premises focussing on new product development and design are taken up in Chemnitz.
The MiniLine product family is introduced to the market. PULS generates an annual turnover of 10 million euros from a single client.
Production of small series is taken up in rented premises in Suzhou in China. The first models of the new DIMENSION product family are launched. This series sets new global standards in terms of efficiency and extremely small dimensions.
PULS is awarded the prestigious “Frost & Sullivan Award For Technology Leadership” for its achievements in the area of innovation.
The new production facilities in Chomutov in the Czech Republic are completed and inaugurated with a big opening act. The factory is a state-of-the-art, environmentally-friendly facility, combining administration and production in an exceptional complex of buildings.
2007 - 2011
The building in Chomutov is nominated for the award for the Czech Republic's best industrial building.
The 5 millionth power supply unit is sold.
PULS is once more presented the Global Leadership Award by “Frost & Sullivan”.
Production is taken up in the specially built green PULS factory in Suzhou in China. PULS is global technology leader, staying in charge of the entire supply chain with its departments for development and design, distribution and its two factories in China and the Czech Republic.
The year of the company's 30th anniversary, which is celebrated with a grand ceremony. During the time after the global economic downturn, the focus is broadened from the construction machinery industry to include further fields of application.
After the global economic crisis and the resulting scarcity of component parts, the situation begins to improve again with the order volume increasing sharply in 2010. With its large stocks of component parts, PULS is able to guarantee reliable delivery, which helps the company to gain many new customers.
The PISA protection module is presented to the specialist media in 2010. It is PULS' first device that is not a power supply unit. ATEX approvals for devices from the DIMENSION series allow PULS' application spectrum to be extended further.
The PULS Group has just under 1,000 permanent employees and despite the recently overcome economic crisis, the company is back to an annual turnover of 75 million with a clear upwards trend.
Production at the Chinese plant exceeds the output of the Czech factory for the first time in 2011. With its global distribution network, more than two thirds of PULS' sales are now international. Applications from the area of renewable energy are clearly gaining in significance.
2012 - today
PULS presents the CPS20, a technology platform with new high-performance and particularly reliable devices from the DIMENSION range.
The new PIANO product family, which was designed especially for the Asian market, goes into serial production. With this new milestone, the PULS engineers prove that it is possible to combine high quality with basic function and a very low price.
PULS introduces the CP10 the worldwide first 240W DIN rail power supply with an efficiency of >95%, a width of 39mm and an extraordinary lifetime of 120,000 hours.
