REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) is a European Union chemicals regulation (EC) 1907/2006, which came into effect on June 1, 2007.

REACH addresses the production and use of chemical substances and their potential impacts on both human health and the environment. 

As a manufacturer of electronic power supplies, PULS is a "downstream user" in the sense of the REACH Regulation.

REACH Conformity Processes at PULS

  • REACH compliance processes at PULS based on the Standard EN 50581 (Technical documentation for the assessment of electrical and electronic products with respect to the restriction of hazardous substances). The collection of information is based on supplier declaration and/or contactual agreement.
  • PULS obligates its subcontractors to inform according to Article 33 if a supplied material contains a substance which is listed in the actual ECHA "Candidate List" SVHC (Article 59) with a level of > 0.1% w/w.
  • Any material used in our products has to pass our internal component approval process; here the requirements are clarified and ensured in relation to REACH.
  • During supplier audits we check the implementation in compliance with REACH at our suppliers.
  • In our frequent product audits we review the actual ECHA "Candidate List" for amendments and updates and act accordingly in compliance with REACH regulation where necessary.
  • In these frequent product audits we carry out a sampling analysis to check component compliance according to substances specified in the so-called ECHA "Candidate List". For REACH-SVHC substances group 1 (metals of inorganic compounds) we use following test methods: ISO 11885 / QMA1498. For REACH-SVHC substances group 2 (organic substances) we use e.g. the following test methods: QMA 1495 / GC-MS; QMA1500 / GC-MS; ISO14389 / QMA1300.
