Market launch of the new FIEPOS product family
PULS presents the new product family FIEPOS (FIEld POwer Supplies). It is a unique power supply system with protection class IP54 or IP65/IP67 which can also be mounted on the DIN rail. The innovative and decentralized system comes with a large selection of different connectors, an optional IO-Link communication interface and various versions with current limited outputs.
FIEPOS offers great flexibility, reliable protection against water and dust while maintaining an eco-friendly design. The field power supplies even feature power reserves of up to 100% for 5 seconds.
The FIEPOS Basic series offers one DC output and is available with 300W or 500W output power. The Basic units can be easily connected in parallel, to increase total output power or realize a reliable redundant system. The FIEPOS eFused series features up to four current-limited DC outputs. These devices make it easy to implement selective power distribution, protection and monitoring directly in the field.
Expansion of DIMENSION C series
PULS has expanded its C Series with efficient 120W, 240W and 480W power supplies. All CP5, CP10 and CP20 power supplies are setting new benchmarks in terms of efficiency, reliability and size in their respective performance classes.
SmartFab Box - Application analysis
It's not a typical product - but a very important tool for the development process of all our upcoming products. It helps to works out a clever strategy for digitization.
The SmartFab Box is an application analysis tool, which records the power requirements and thermal conditions in customer systems and facilities.
CPS20 with new technology platform
PULS presents the CPS20, a technology platform with new high-performance and particularly reliable devices from the DIMENSION range.
UB20.241 with regulated output voltage
PULS presents the new UB20.241, a control unit for DC-UPS with regulated output voltage. The UB20.241 is used in combination with a 24V power supply and batteries to bridge power failures or voltage fluctuations. This configuration can prevent expensive downtimes, long restart cycles and loss of data.
A unique feature of the UB20 series is the constant voltage in battery mode, which will not change as the batteries discharge. The buffer voltage in battery mode can be set to four different output values. Another feature is the utilization of two independent battery chargers for the two 12V-batteries in series. This feature makes matching batteries unnecessary and allows for precise battery charging, testing and optimized usage of the battery capacity to achieve the longest battery service life.
Introduction of the new QS40.241
The most outstanding features of the DIMENSION QS40.241 DIN rail power supply are its high efficiency and compact size, which are achieved by a synchronous rectification, a bridgeless PFC circuit and additional unique design details.
The 24V 40A DIN rail power supply for 1-phase systems comes with a wide-range input. Large power reserves of 50% and built-in large sized output capacitors support the starting of heavy loads such as DC motors or capacitive loads. High immunity to transients and power surges as well as low electromagnetic emissions allow the usage of the QS40.241 in nearly any environment.
XT40.241 with a semi-regulated concept
PULS presents the XT40.241 as the newest addition to the DIMENSION X series. The DIN rail power supply includes a new and innovative concept for generating an isolated DC voltage from a three-phase AC mains system.
The XT40.241 with an output voltage of 24V and 40A output current features a semi-regulated concept which ensures a very compact design. The maximum efficiency of 95,5% results in lower operational costs for the end user.
The DC-UPS system is introduced
PULS introduces a new efficient, compact and reliable DC-UPS system which ensures the highest system availability. The uninterruptible power supplies are available with capacitor storage or VRLA batteries and thus result in powerful and compact solutions.
DC-UPS units with integrated double-layer capacitors are absolutely maintenance-free and guarantee an uninterrupted power supply in a matter of seconds.
SilverLine product family introduced
SilverLine product family is introduced to the market. Since then the SilverLine with their characteristic metal housing has been proven millions of times in the power range from 40 to 960W. The products of this family were the technological pioneers for our latest product families DIMENSION, PIANO and MiniLine.
PULS introduces the flyforward converter, which extends the usable power for flyback converters from 150W to 1000W. In addition, the company succeeds the Increase of the efficiency from 89% to 92%.
First DIN rail power supply
PULS shows the first DIN rail power supply as a prototype in November 1990 at the trade fair electronica in Munich.
New test procedure in production
PULS introduces the procedure of in-circuit testing in its production in order to prove the correct testing of the electronic assemblies. In-circuit testing focuses on testing the components and the electrical connections on an assembled circuit board.
The use of the in-circuit test procedure guarantees an optimal and comprehensive inspection of the power supplies within the manufacturing process.
Efficiency breakthrough
Breakthrough regarding the efficiency, which is one of the most important marks of quality in the field of switched-mode power supply technology. With a 5V / 50A power supply PULS achieves an efficiency of more than 85%.
Use of ARES converter in mass production
The ARES (Adaptive Reset) converter is used for the first time in mass production of DIN rail power supplies.
In the same year PULS introduces the first fully automated functional tester in production and is thus the first user in Europe. A functional tester is a test system that checks the power supply units or components for their functionality. This process guarantees a high level of quality, reliability and efficiency.
Thermal design for DIN rail power supplies
As early as 1984, PULS already focused on the thermal design of its power supplies which has always been a decisive factor in the development and manufacturing process. To this day PULS remains true to this design principle for all of its products.
The thermal design, also known as "cool design", offers great advantages like a compact form factor of the power supplies and an optimal heat regulation. The result of this design are efficient, durable and visually appealing DIN rail power supplies.
First 19-inch switched-mode power supply
PULS introduces the first 19-inch switched-mode power supply unit, using the great potential of SMPS (Switch Mode Power Supply) technology.
The company is developing a new generation of power supplies that solves many problems of the existing concepts. This is achieved through various improvements such as the use of high-quality opto-couplers, a primary-side current measurement for higher efficiency and the use of a flyback converter.
